Wall of Shame
Ron Desantis, Tim Scott, Lee Zeldin, and Vivek Ramaswamey are all extremely bright, politically savvy individuals with significant name recognition and popular support. But their actions in the early primary season in endorsing Trump instead of Nikki Haley was so destructive, incompetent, and shameful that they should be held personally responsible if the Republicans don’t sweep the elections in November. Endorsing Donald Trump instead of Nikki Haley was inexplicable for many reasons, including:
Policy Differences: Trump is economically ignorant. His overwhelming support for tariffs is destructive and clueless, and he is a big spender and permanent liar on entitlements. And his good policies, especially lowering taxes, reducing regulations, and support for Israel are Haley policies as well - and she articulates them much better.
Leadership Style: Trump’s leadership style is polarizing and controversial. He frequently exhibits a confrontational approach; endorsing him was seen as supporting a continuation of this divisive style.
Electability: Trump has a more contentious relationship with a large portion of the electorate, which makes him a less viable candidate in a general election. In contrast, Haley had a better chance to appeal to a broader range of voters, including moderates and independents. Numerous polls showed Haley 10-17% better than Trump against Biden
Party Unity: Trump’s candidacy has contributed to deepening divisions within the Republican Party. Supporting Trump is viewed as exacerbating these internal conflicts, whereas Haley would have been a figure who could potentially unite different factions of the party.
Long-Term Impact: Endorsing Trump has implications for the future of the Republican Party. Continuing to support Trump tacitly entrenches certain political dynamics that could affect the party's long-term direction and its ability to adapt to changing political landscapes.
When they were all dropping out or deciding who to support, they had two choices: Trump or Haley. The fact that they picked Trump over Haley was utterly irrational. They flat-out knew Trump was bad on policy and really unable to understand (and more importantly to explain) the intricacies of issues, nor is he able to even debate the merits of any policies; he instead resorts to calling people names. Those who chose Trump over Haley showed they have utter disregard for the future of the country and for the Republican Party.
