Donald Trump has repeatedly indicated that numerous actions—from military strikes on Iran to further tax legislation—would happen only “after the midterms.” Why wait? And why not now? Delaying life-and-death decisions until after the midterms is egregious, disingenuous, and downright moronic.
Trump has stated he will not strike Iran again before the November 3 elections and that the war will end “immediately after.” He has conditioned making existing tax cuts permanent, issuing $5,000 “Trump Dividend” checks to every adult, allowing year-round E15 gasoline sales, settling remaining veterans’ claims, and directing specific federal investments on Republicans winning those same elections. He has openly tied military force, tax policy, energy rules, and spending decisions to the midterm calendar.
Rather than sound foreign, defense, or tax leadership, Trump is engaging in self-serving political theater. National security and tax policy rest on facts, readiness, economic reality, and American interests—not on vote counts. Framing the decision to bomb or hold fire, or to advance tax changes, around Election Day puts partisan advantage first and treats both war and the tax code as campaign props. Announcing that he will delay what should be done now because it might hurt him politically is the height of stupidity. That is contempt for the office and for the country.
