Trump Shames His Presidential Oath When He Attacks Courts Solely Because They Disagree with Him
It's a disgrace to our nation
Donald Trump twice swore a solemn presidential oath on the Bible to uphold the Constitution, but his relentless attacks on the judiciary show he’s either abandoned that promise, nor ever had any intention of upholding it. He repeatedly slams judges and court rulings that don’t align with his agenda, dismissing them as “political” or “unfair” without ever engaging with the legal principles involved. This is a shocking and dangerous assault on the judiciary’s independence, a pillar of our democracy. By treating rulings against him as personal betrayals, Trump acts more like a dictator who believes only decisions in his favor are valid.
Since returning to office in January 2025, Trump’s disdain for the rule of law has been glaringly obvious. Some very recent examples:
On June 3, 2025, he privately criticized Supreme Court justices, including Amy Coney Barrett, for not backing his administration’s goals. CNN
On May 30, 2025, he attacked “radical left judges” for halting his immigration and economic policies, claiming they were sabotaging the “MAGA agenda.” Fox News
On May 29, 2025, he questioned the origins of a three-judge panel, including his own appointee, after they struck down his tariff policies. CNN
On May 29, 2025, he rejected the Federalist Society, dismissing their judges as not loyal enough to his administration. AP
In March 2025, he demanded the impeachment of Judge James Boasberg, calling him a “rogue judge” for ruling against migrant deportations, earning a rebuke from Chief Justice John Roberts. Washington Post
It is clear that in every single case Trump had no interest in the legal issues involved. In every instance, the legal principles were extremely persuasive, if not overwhelmingly correct. But Trump's only metric of concern to assess every case was whether it went for or against him.
But what is more disgraceful is the silence from Trump’s supporters, especially those who know better. Why am I the one pointing out this embarrassing behavior when his allies should be holding him accountable, preventing him from further shaming himself? For months, he’s trashed the judiciary, acting as if he’s above the law and ignoring the Constitution he swore to protect. His supporters should be demanding he stop, not cheering him on. This isn’t just a personal failing—it’s a disgrace to our nation on the global stage.
Sticks and stones will break a leg but names will never hurt you. So what if Trump speaks freely against some supreme court judges. In the end it means nothing . It does not change any of the judges views . It is all just Trump showmanship to impress his constituency.
Is means nothing compared to FDR and Biden threatening to pack the court .
The most important point is that after 235 years the Constitution and the Bill of rights still stand and we the American people still have a government with separation of powers .
