Congratulations to Republican Congressmen Chip Roy, Ralph Norman, Josh Brecheen, and Andrew Clyde for their principled stance against the GOP tax megabill. By pushing for stronger Medicaid reforms and a quicker end to clean-energy subsidies, they’re working to prevent deficits from soaring due to front-loaded tax cuts and delayed spending reductions. The bill, in its current form, courts fiscal irresponsibility, and their call for serious reform grabs a critical opportunity to stabilize our budget. Regrettably, Speaker Mike Johnson, who’s skillfully held big spenders in check until now, fumbled this one. Letting this flawed package move forward is his biggest mistake yet, betraying the conservative fiscal discipline he’s long upheld.
