A GOP Game Plan for 2028: Lose Big to Win Bigger
I don’t normally do tongue in cheek postings, but this one is too good to pass up:
I think that the GOP should intentionally lose the presidency in the 2028 elections.
Why? The Social Security trust fund, the only available source to pay Social Security benefits, is projected to totally run out of money by 2033. It appears that neither the Democrats nor the Republicans are willing to even discuss reform- no discussion in the 2024 campaign -nothing so far in the 2026 midterms, and probably no discussion in the 2028 presidential election. And absent any reform, 70 million Americans will wake up one day in 2032 or 2033 with their Social Security checks 23% smaller.
This means that whoever wins the White House in the 2028 election will have to deal with this extraordinary calamity before their term ends. The pain is likely to be so bad that the other party will run away with the 2032 election - therefore my recommendation: don’t be the occupant of the White House when Social Security goes bankrupt, so just do not win the 2028 election.
